A.I. Archontakis I

Delving into a family archive of posters made during the dictatorship by political prisoners held at the prison of Aegina. These posters made were not created by “professional artists”. One of them says “Please reproduce these images and disseminate them as cards or stamps to help the victims of the Fascist regime of Athens and their families […] The images were secretly made in prison by an antifascist, but he is no painter! […]” These posters were never turned into postcards or stamps; they remained in an archive for 45 years. I print them on postcards and juxtaposes them to cards with contemporary graffiti slogans I found on the walls of the ASFA
